Q & A with Kelsey Chow
What was your reaction when you first booked Pair of Kings? I was ECSTATIC!!!! I still feel that way every day when I go to work!
What’s it like working with Mitchel and the rest of the cast? I am a very lucky girl! Everyone is so talented, and we really are like a family. Everyone protects and supports each other. We know we can count on one another. Mitchel is so talented, a really cool guy, but also very sweet. I have enjoyed getting to know him this season. Doc, also is so talented, fun, and he is my rock. He is very kind, focused, and we hang out a lot. Geno is like my second father, my older brother, and my very good friend. He is so talented and funny. We hang out in NYC when we both are there. Ryan is amazing. He is like my little brother, and I cannot believe he is only 14. He is so knowledgeable and committed! We all have a great time.
What is it like filming in front of a live audience? It is exhilarating! I love the live audiences. You get that live feedback meet fans, and it is more like theater.
How do you like working with Disney? It has been such a great experience. You know that you and the series are in excellent hands professionally and personally, so it allows you to concentrate on doing the best job possible. Everyone is so dedicated.
Tell us about your character. I cannot think of a better character to play. She is strong, but kind. She is super loyal to her father, the kings, the island and its people. I really like her adventurous nature and ability to kick butt!
How are you and your character alike? We are both loyal, devoted, and want to see the best in others.
What do you think of all your new fans? I am so excited about the fans, and I hope they really like the show because we are having a ball and love coming to work after finishing an episode just to see what kind of wild and crazy things we are going to be doing next! The fans have been fantastic!
Do you have a social network fans can currently reach you at? None at the moment. Fans, if you have any suggestions or ideas, I am all ears!!!
Do you have any other projects in the works? I decided to take these next few months while the show is on hiatus to complete my freshman year at Columbia University in NYC. I shot the pilot 2 weeks before beginning my freshman year, and completed fall term before beginning the series. Education is very important to me, but I absolutely love acting, and if I am fortunate, I hope I will be able to do continue my acting career for as long as possible. I hope to have the opportunity to work more in films, but right now, I am loving every minute of being Mikayla Makoola on Kinkow Island!
